Downtown Boston (July 2012)

There are still a couple of posts left from NYC but now feels like a good time to break things up with a stretch of some more recent pics. Up today we have a quick set from an early morning stroll around Back Bay and downtown Boston. Andrea and I found ourselves wide awake early on a sunny summer morning so we headed into town, grabbed breakfast at Thornton’s Restaurant (one of my all-time favorite breakfast spots because of their challah french toast), and walked from the Prudential Center downtown to the Boston Common and Public Garden. On our way back towards Back Bay we made sure to stop off at the newly opened Georgetown Cupcakes on Newbury Street. Andrea and I know Georgetown Cupcakes well from my days of working in DC with McKinsey, but now it’s nice to be able to get a treat without having to go through airport security. Enjoy and up next time the first set from our recent Cape vacation.

Reflections of Boston

Continuing on with pictures from the Back Bay photowalk, the warm fall light made for lots of nice reflections so I frequently found myself looking for surfaces to provide a unique frame. Let me know what you think.

Back Bay and Copley Square

Andrea in her quest to buy every Groupon offered in the Boston area surprised me with a gift certificate for a free photography-centric walking tour, courtesty of Photowalks. I chose to go with a tour of the Back Bay area, which included stops at Trinity Church, the new and old Hancock buildings, and the Boston Public Library (definitely one of the hidden gems of Boston). Saba, the owner and operator of Photowalks provides a nice mix of history and instruction, so if you’re interested in seeing Boston while also getting some unique shots along the way I would definitely recommend taking a tour yourself. Enjoy part 1 of 2 below.

Boston after the storm

Haven’t been shooting much lately so it’s a good time to post a random pic from the Public Gardens right after a rainstorm.
